Advice On A Shoestring Traveling

Traveling is every person’s right and an opportunity rolled into one.  It is a wonderful thing that many of us miss and this gives us a different kind of learning. Our pockets may not always allow it but you can come up with a variety of ways to make your travel plans a reality.

With some careful planning and a good firm eye on your budget, you can indeed travel even if your budget is not too big. Below are five useful travel advice that may come in handy when you are traveling on a budget.

1. Put into consideration the so-called "extras"- Tour service tippings, museum tickets, drinks at the hotel bar and other "hidden" costs will all add up and may surprise when you go home and see your credit card bill. Make sure to use your credit cards wisely and just spend to things that matter during your travel.

2. Always be informed – This is the best advice you can get when visiting a new and unfamiliar place. Do your research about the place you are visiting before you get there. For some, this is half the fun of traveling but for travelers who may be more "adventurous" this may be recognized as taking away the spontaneity of travel. Some travelers love to just go to a place and figure out everything on the spot. While this sounds awesome, it would be best to learn about the finest yet cheap restaurants and cost-friendly hostels, if you are traveling on a budget prior to your departure. This tip alone has the potential to save you lots and lots of money.

3. Make a budget check list. Writing down the list of your expenses can help you save money. There is nothing scarier than being stranded in a foreign country without any money.

4. Think practically. If you are traveling on a budget, practice self-control by not giving in to impulse buying. Shopping may sound nice but learn to buy things that are within your budget.  A nice practical souvenir that you can use when you are back home is much better than some tacky souvenir that you are just going to put in a drawer and never use.

5. Look for places that are offered for FREE. Parks are usually offered for free. If you plan ahead, you can integrate as many "free things" as you wish in your travel itinerary. Walk around the spots and minimize riding taxis. Taking the local transportation will add up to the travel experience.
